The Archaeological Site of Ptolemais
The Archaeological Site of Ptolemais is part of the Tentative list of Libya in order to qualify for inclusion in the World Heritage List.
The Archaeological Site of Ptolemais comprises a port city of Greek origin with a Hellenistic urban planning. In 96 BC it became a Roman possession and developed into a provincial capital. The ruins have been well-preserved due to having been buried by sand.
